Just popping in today to share a delicious and ridiculously easy holiday treat- called Sweet and Salty Bark. I have been making a variation of this recipe for years called White Christmas Bark, this treat is similar and THE GOOD NEWS IS- other than melting the chocolate candy coating in the microwave there is NO COOKING involved!
Here is what you will need:
One bag of tiny twist pretzels, one container of cocktail peanuts and one bar of chocolate flavor candy coating…that's it…only 3 ingredients!
First, I fill a large bowl with half of the bag of pretzels, then I use a measuring cup to crush them up.
After that, I add approx. half the container of peanuts and stir them with the pretzels.
(Like so many of my recipes- no measurements needed, just add as much as you like!)
Next, I follow the directions on the chocolate candy coating and melt the entire bar in the microwave until smooth and creamy.
Then pour the melted chocolate on top of the salty mix and give everything a big stir!
Finally, when everything is well-mixed and coated with chocolate, pour everything out onto large sheets of waxed paper and spread it into a thinner layer- then let it cool and harden for at least 2 hours.
When the bark has cooled and hardened, break the chocolate covered mixture into small bite size pieces.
(Note: one chocolate bar will coat 1/2 bag of pretzels and 1/2 container of peanuts, get a second bar if you want to use the entire bag of pretzels and peanuts.)
I like to fill treat bags or even cute mason jars with the Sweet and Salty Bark to give as gifts!
(Be sure to save some for yourself, though! You worked soooo hard making it, you deserve a little treat too!!)
