So let's talk wedges…
(and by wedges, I don't mean SHOES!)
Raise your hand if you love a good wedge salad…
I KNOW! Me too!
Maybe it's the crunchy iceberg lettuce or the rich creamy dressing, or just the dramatic, beautiful presentation- (the wedge salad is definitely the most stylish of all the salads if you ask me!)
I made this wedge salad the other night to go with some delicious grilled steaks and I almost think the wedge overshadowed the steak!
Since then, I have been making them more regularly- even my KIDS were intrigued enough to try it (and they liked it- yay)
Similar to the wedge shoe- the wedge salad is a fabulous "complement" to almost any meal!
I usually "wing it"- sometimes I use a homemade ranch dressing (and by homemade, I mean one of those packets) topped with diced tomato, onion, bacon, and cheese, or if I am feeling fancy, I serve it with bluecheese dressing and crumbled blue cheese…
whatever you decide- make a wedge salad soon- you will thank me!
Here is an "official "recipe for those of you who like that sort of thing:
Blue Cheese Wedge Salad-
1 head iceberg lettuce, cut into quarters
Blue cheese dressing
1 tomato, minced
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
On each salad plate, place 1 wedge of lettuce turned on its side. Pour blue cheese dressing on wedge. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green onions, crumbled blue cheese, and crumbled bacon.
**OH and one final tip: I like to make them in advance- (unlike other salads they will not get soggy) and put the salad and plate in the refrigerator so the plate gets REALLY cold, maybe it's because I live in hot and steamy Florida, but somehow this makes the salad taste better to me! 😉
