Starfish Cottage Looks Ahead to 2015…

It was so fun taking a look back last week at my blog over 2014, and today I want to share with you all some plans I have for Starfish Cottage in 2015…

1. Add distressed painted "wood planking" to the wall behind our tv in the Family Room.

Ever since we opened up that large niche, I have been DYING to do this…lets hope we can work on it soon, it would look so GREAT!!

I am going for a look similar to this…

2. I am planning on selling ALL the French Country style pieces in my formal living room and dining rooms!!

As much as I love these rooms, I want to go a little more casual and coastal in this large space…more like the rest of the house.  I have several French style chairs, a scroll iron coffee table, a French style dining table and china cabinet.  I am also hoping to get a large custom bound seagrass area rug to cover BOTH the living and dining areas…we will wait and see how this project goes!?

3. Update the island in our kitchen…

Again, I LOVE my kitchen, but think that getting rid of the raised bar counter and adding one large counter-height island would look and function so much better…I would also like to get granite or marble countertops in here too…and update the pendant lights…that's all!

4. Finally, I would love to add hardwood flooring to the rear of the house- the Family Room/Kitchen/Breakfast area.  We have hardwoods in the formal living and dining and entry and I love them, I want to find a product that can match or "blend" with what we already have!

That's it for MAJOR changes and updates…I am hopeful that we can do all or at least a few this year…as time and money allows.  Overall, though- I am really contented and happy with our little house on the saltwater, I think I just love making it better and better!  Afterall, you really are never "done", a house just keeps evolving and improving- right??
