“Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
In today’s advent reading, we see that Joseph faced quite a dilemma, should he marry a pregnant teenage girl (whom he was NOT the father) or just walk away from the whole situation…as we read here- an angel of the Lord convinced him to get married, and that has made all the difference!
I love this part of the Christmas story for several reasons:
1. God shows here how He can use imperfect people and even dysfunctional situations to carry out His perfect plan.
2. All we have to do is have faith and follow Gods lead and He will do MIGHTY things in our lives.
3. Jesus was not sent to save the perfect people of this world, but rather came so that us IMPERFECT people might be redeemed and have hope.
Hope you have a blessed Sunday and Holiday Season…
