Yesterday, I shared some photos of our Family Room with the new flooring and wall color, and I am back today with “after” photos from our kitchen reno!
If you remember, we had a beige ceramic tile flooring, a split bar height/counter height island with drywall front, and black Corian countertops. The bead board cabinets were white with black iron hardware, and the backsplash was a beige travertine. We also had an ENORMOUS above range microwave and khaki painted walls. We were ready for an update to say the least!!
About the only thing that stayed the same was our cabinets! (I still really like them) Everything else was updated…
We modified the kitchen island to a large counter height and used a beautiful natural white stone for our counters. We wrapped the front of the island in bead board and painted it to match the cabinets. (This island modification makes my kitchen feel so much bigger and more spacious!!)
We also removed the large microwave and installed a smaller stainless steel vent hood (since we rarely use our microwave, we opted for a small counter top model). We also installed simple, clean white subway tile for the backsplash.
Other big updates include new brushed nickel hardware, white metal barstools, and painted the walls a crisp, clean white. We are loving everything! Here are a few more photos…
Since the kitchen is the heart of our home and honestly where I spend most of my time, the investments in these updates are so worth it! As you can see from this angle, my new island is larger and so much nicer for prepping food and entertaining. As much as I love our home, we do not have a particularly large kitchen, so all of these improvements make it feel more spacious and that’s a good thing!
Of all the things we did, I think my natural white and grey veined stone countertops are my favorite. I can’t wait to start adding some pretty and colorful springtime accents, my neutral kitchen is the perfect “blank canvas” for a variety of seasonal colors and decor.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the positive feedback and I have already been getting lots of inquiries about what colors and materials were used… next week I will post a full source list from our renovation, as well as an updated source list of some of the furnishings and accessories our home.
Thanks so much for stopping by the cottage today- wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
