As most of you have figured out by now, I sort of have a little "thing" for Mason Jars!
I love to decorate with them…but they also make really cute and inexpensive holiday gift ideas too. Today I want to share with you a few of my favorite "savory treats" you can make with mason jars. I always think we eat WAAAYYY too many sweets around the holidays, so sometimes I like to give SAVORY treats for a change.
You can fill your mason jars with all kinds of sauces and mixes…
pictured here are four different treats: BBQ sauce, homemade salsa, popcorn and homemade pesto.
I make homemade salsa almost every week (since we have Taco Tuesday almost every week), click HERE for a quick and easy recipe…it's THE BEST!! If you added a big bag of corn chips it would make such a tasty gift!
I also make a mean homemade pesto, although not as often…click HERE to see how I do it! This sauce would make a nice gift if you added a beautiful bag of pasta and maybe a fresh tomato or small pot of basil.
I thought the popcorn in the mason jar turned out so cute! And it couldn't be easier, click HERE for my all-natural homemade microwave popcorn…you could also make some delicious flavored popcorns for an extra special treat!
OK, so the BBQ Sauce was a total cheat! I have never made homemade BBQ sauce, but hopefully with try it someday, but for now, I just poured one of my favorite store-bought sauces and made it look SOOOmuch cuter in the Mason Jar.
Besides the fact that mason jars make fabulous containers for all kinds of foods, it's REALLY easy to make them look cute, here's what you will need:
A variety of patterned scrapbook papers, white and colored cardstock, holiday themed stamps, ink, hold puncher scissors, pencil, and ribbon or raffia.
First, use the inner metal lid to trace circles onto the patterned paper and cut out circles to fit inside the lid of your mason jar lids.
Then, stamp and cut out various tags with cute greetings
Create cute tags with matching cardstock and punch with holes for the ribbon.
Just for fun, I made a mix of colors, quotes and sizes.
Then, simply fill your jars with the treat of your choice and seal, tie with your pretty ribbon and tags- that's it! Super easy, super cute AND might I add pretty thrifty too!
Next week I will be sharing 3 more cute Mason Jar Treats so be sure to tune in.
