So our recent playroom makeover was a lot of fun, and since everything was done on a budget, I wanted to show you all an easy way to make a fabric covered corkboard. Ours was HUGE, but this same project could be done on any size frame…
We had a very large painting that we were no longer using, so I removed the canvas from the back and painted the frame white (it was gold).
This was the painting that was inside…I am saving it to use at another time.
Next, I had a piece of insulation board cut the same size as the canvas- it's perfect to use because thumbtacks will stick in it really well.
The front side of the board is silvery…
I used this grey and white Greek Key patterned fabric to cover the board.
There was probably a better way to do this, but I just secured the fabric with heavy duty clear packing tape.
Here is the fabric covered board.
Next, I placed the board in the back of the frame and again secured it with the clear plastic packing tape.
Here is the finished project!
We hung the corkboard over the arts and crafts desk in the playroom, to give the girls a place to display their latested creations.
We tacked up some of the colorful fabrics we used in the room as well as some art.
We LOVE our new room and the fabric covered corkboard was the perfect piece for the large wall over the art table!
