Last week, the Starfish Cottage gang took a family boat day and visited beautiful downtown Tampa!
Tampa is about a 30 minute boat ride and/or car ride from our home- though it’s MUCH more fun to go by boat!
I just love our little downtown skyline, but checking out the beautiful waterfront homes and boats of Harbor Island is always so nice.
The convention center is right on the water and has a lovely public Marina/ boat parking area.
There are a number of water taxis and dinner boats that dock here, as well as a few fun waterfront restaurants and bars to visit.
All the nice hotels are here as well, the Westin and Marriot are two of my favorites.
We decided to dock the boat and take a stroll on the beautiful River Walk…
We wound up having lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, and a Tampa institution, The Columbia!
The original Columbia restaurant is a few miles away in Old Ybor City and has been there since 1905…this outpost is located on the Riverwalk at the Tampa History Center.

We ate “al fresco” and I had my favorite, the Shrimp Ajillio- a dish of super garlicky roasted shrimp.Edit
After walking off our lunch, it was back to the boat for a short cruise home.
It was such a beautiful day, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a day with the family!
