It's ok, I know what you all are going to say…
I am officially the last blogger in Blogland to make one of these DIY Painted Table Runners.
That's ok, this is my favorite kind of project, and I had fun! (This is not a "50+ materials needed and 7 days to work" kind of project…this is an "easy peasy, done in a few hours" kind of project).
So my inspiration was the new striped pillows from Pier One Imports- I love them, and thought it would be great if I could find a matching table runner, then I thought- "I'll just make one".
The only materials needed, you probably already have- acrylic craft paint, blue painters tape, a foam paint brush and a remnant of fabric sewn into a table runner- the size of your choice!
First, I ran a piece of tape directly down the middle of my runner.
Then I ran two pieces of tape on either side of the center piece. Next, I pulled up the first piece in the middle- this gave me my "center line".
I proceeded to paint the first stripe and let it dry completely.
Where is her dropcloth you ask? I forgot to use one! But I got lucky and the paint did not bleed through onto my table.
Then I taped off and painted the two outside stripes- these were narrower than the center stripe.
I allowed the two outer skinny stripes to totally dry.
And since I was having so much fun, I decided to paint two more stripes, same process.
When I was done, I had a beautiful, navy and white table runner that completely co-ordinated with my new striped pillows.
Here's a close up of my "paint job"- I liked that it looked sort of rough.
How does it hold up in the wash you ask? I have no idea…I haven't washed it yet, but I will let you know!
Be sure to tune in later this week when I share more photos from my beautiful"Nautical Navy and White Tablesetting"… here's a sneak peek-
