Now that Thanksgiving is officially behind us- on to the main event of the year…
Every year about this time there is a bitter family feud that is waged…very serious stuff…
what color/theme should we have for Christmas this year!? The past two years “TRADITIONAL RED CHRISTMAS” has won out…but not this year…this year we are going with a COASTAL SOFT BLUE AND SILVER CHRISTMAS and I am so excited!
I have a beautiful Pinterest Board called “Coastal Christmas Decor” that I have kept for years, here is an image I have always loved, and it has served as my inspiration for this year:
There’s just something so fresh and pretty about that soft blue…and recently, I was lucky enough to find some reasonable pillow covers in this gorgeous color from IKEA of all places!
I scooped up a bunch of these and have used them as my main accent color throughout the cottage this holiday season…aren’t they pretty and plush in a soft “velvet-like” fabric!? They are more of a soft grey-blue/French Blue than Aqua blue, which I really like! Here’s another photo of them:
So I did use this color scheme several years ago, my long-time followers may remember…this was before our remodel this year, so I can’t wait to take some new photos…
(That’s back when we used to have a faux fireplace!!:0
The coastal blues were pretty then and they will be pretty this year, I’m still putting on all the final touches but I can’t wait to share photos with you all. I had three main goals this year…
1. Keep it Simple- I want to focus on fewer areas for greater impact, a slightly more “minimal” Christmas.
2. Keep it Coastal- As I mentioned before, no red this year, just light blues and silver with plenty of creamy white and touches of black…also lots of seashells and starfish and even some tropical foliage for an authentic “Florida Feel”.
3. Keep it Classy- I would like to use more fresh and less fake greenery and florals this year, lots of fresh cut flowers and mercury glass and candle light…you get the idea!
I’m getting excited and have a big Holiday House Tour coming up next Thursday, so be sure to join me for that!
Wishing everyone a fabulous Friday!
