Classic Blue and White for Summer

My love of blue and white is no secret.

For most of my regular readers, you know how it's my all-time favorite, go-to color combo for our home!

Recently, I have been seeing more and more blue and white in all the decor magazines and catalogues, and I am glad for that!

So when updating my home for summer, I went back to my classic blue and whites!

Last summer, I chose a darker, more "true navy" blue, but this year, I decided on a brighter blue…and these fabulous Crate and Barrel "Linden" pillow covers in Indigo were the perfect starting point!

Over the years I have collected quite a bit of blue and white Chinese export porcelain pieces: bowls, vases, lamps- and so I decided to dust them off and set them about the cottage!

Note: the blue and white porcelain lamps are for photos only!  With the recent addition of our adopted 4 year old son, they wouldn't last long, so they will probably go back to the bedside tables in our Master Bedroom where they will hopefully be safe and sound, but the "decorator/stylist" in me couldn't resist adding them to the Family Room for these photos!

I also added some gorgeous blue and khaki striped pillows from Heritage Lace to the two club chairs.

I love styling our long, low tv cabinet with a variety of items and the export blue and white vases look great clustered on either side of the flat screen tv.

Another favorite of mine, white orchids!  This one looks great in the bowl on the coffee table- btw- the bowl was recently purchased from Michaels Arts and Crafts- even they are jumping on the blue and white bandwagon!

I paired the large indigo pillows with my 8 year old simple khaki and white striped ones.

I am just loving all the blue touches around the cottage!

I have never been to the Hamptons, but it reminds me of a "Hamptons-Style" coastal home!

In the kitchen, I filled an old ironstone pitcher with blue hydrangea stems…if only they were fresh cut stems from my old hydragea bush in Atlanta…unfortunately, hydrangeas do not do so well in our Florida heat!

Well, happy summer to everyone!!  It definitely feels like summer here in the Sunshine State.

Stay tuned for TWO gorgeous blue and white table settings coming soon…
