Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by the cottage!
Today I am joining a talented group of bloggers for a wonderful Holiday Recipe Blog Hop! Special thanks to my good friend, Carol from Blue Sky Kitchen for organizing this hop! I can’t wait to see what everyone is posting this week, links to all the blogs is at the conclusion of this post!
Are you looking for a simple, delicious and festive appetizer to take to your next holiday party or gathering? Look no further than these colorful and yummy Caprese Salad Skewers!
I love a great caprese salad, but it is impossible to eat without a fork and knife- these gorgeous skewers make this caprese salad a great option for parties since they require no utensils.
With minimal ingredients and NO COOKING, this appetizer is so easy to prepare it’s ridiculous. Did I mention it looks great (thanks to the festive red and green colors) AND is a healthier alternative to other snacks this time of year…here’s what you will need:
Fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, marinated balls of mozzarella cheese and 6″ wood skewers. (You may also want to use toothpicks for a smaller size “skewer”)
I purchased the marinated mozzarella at our local Sam’s Club- they are delicious! The marinade is a delicious combination of olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, and it flavors the entire skewer.
After washing and drying the basil leaves, simply build your skewers- I start with the cheese, then a tomato, next the basil, then repeat…each 6″ skewer should fit two of each ingredient! I try to buy cherry tomatoes approximately the same size as the cheese, so the skewers look somewhat uniform.
For a delicious finishing touch, I like to sprinkle the skewers with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper and drizzle with a gorgeous balsamic vinegar glaze…yummy!
Give this festive, healthy, delicious and EASY recipe a try for your next holiday get-together!
