All this month I have been adding a few trendy “Boho Chic” accents to Starfish Cottage. I consider my style more classic than trendy, but I have learned how to add a variety of styles to my more classic neutral home to keep things looking fresh and updated. Here are my top five tips for how to add trendy decor to your home:
Trends can be fun in both apparel and home decor, so don’t be afraid to try something new, particularly if you really like the trend or it works well with your homes existing decor!
When trying a new trend in your home, don’t go “all-in” and redecorate an entire room in one trend, rather look for a few key pieces to add to what you currently have that will add an updated look!
Think of your dining table or coffee table as an open stage ready for a new “star of the show” try out trendy or seasonal items here for the most visual impact. Accent pillows on your sofa is another great area to try out a trend!
If you invest your time and money in classic style neutral basics and finishes for your home, you will be able to add a variety of inexpensive trendy or colorful seasonal items quite easily. I never spend much money on trendy things, knowing they will not be popular for long, but it’s ok to have some fun.
If you don’t have a neutral home, select trendy items that complement the colors and style of your home, that way you don’t have to totally redecorate, but rather make a few subtle “updates”!
I hope these design tips help and don’t be afraid to try something new and a little trendy in your home!
