I can’t help reflecting over everything that happened last year as we enter this new year!
2015 was a big year for Starfish Cottage because we adopted our precious son, Victor!
We went from a family of four to a family of five…almost overnight…more about that later!
Several years ago, I named my blog “Starfish Cottage” based on my love of all things coastal AND the insanely disproportionate amount of starfish adorning our home…little did I know that several years later, the name “Starfish Cottage” would take on a deeper, much more important meaning. Let me explain by sharing a beautiful story I ran across not long ago…
You see, Victor is our very own little starfish!
We couldn’t save all of the orphans in the world, but by adopting Victor- we hopefully made a difference to one!
We continue to hope and pray that Victor’s adoption and our story will inspire others to be more open to adoption.
As you will learn later this week, I was quite nervous about our plan to adopt a little boy from the foster care system, even though we felt called to do it, but it was still pretty scary…
I am happy to report that all is well in our family- Victor has been a blessing beyond all my dreams- he is brave, and resilient, thoughtful and sweet, and even though we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary with him this week, I honestly can’t imagine our family without him now!
The transition certainly had its bumps along the way (but to be honest, we have “bumps” with our own biological children!!) and I am sure there are plenty more bumps to come!
This Wednesday, January 6th will be Victor’s “Gotcha Day” (the day he came to live with our family), and if that’s ok with everyone, I would love to share our adoption story with you all, so please come back!
