This post is for all my “non-Floridian” readers who absolutely love it when I feature a special Florida destination…I have always said there is SO MUCH MORE TO FLORIDA THAN DISNEY WORLD.
So, I am back today with another fabulous and fun Florida destination…the Don Cesar Hotel on St Pete Beach!! If you have never been to St Pete beach…it’s beautiful, and if you have never visited the Don Cesar Hotel (AKA the “Pink Castle”) you are in for a treat!
First of all, whether you visit the hotel or not, St Pete Beach is so beautiful!!
My youngest daughter and I could literally walk for hours searching for seashells and other sealife washed up on the beach…
But back to the Don Cesar hotel, it looks like a big, bright pink sand castle and has been updated not long ago by the Loews family of hotels and it…is…beautiful…inside and out!
Developed by Thomas Rowe and opened in 1928, it gained renown as the Gulf playground for America’s pampered rich at the height of the Jazz Age and it still serves as a popular retreat for the rich and famous of today. The hotel was designed by Henry H. Dupont. Loews Don CeSar Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The hotel is full of history and there are even rumors that the hotel is haunted! Click here to find out more!
We live only minutes away, and recently discovered that you can purchase a “day pass” to enjoy the pool and other amenities of the hotel without staying the night!
My girls and I enjoyed the day there, but we all voted that the best part was our visit to the cute vintage-style ice cream parlor, Uncle Andy’s!!
Check it out sometime…it’s worth the trip, whether for the day or an extended stay!!
