If you are looking to update or redecorate a room in your house, before making any large purchases, try these 3 cost-effective ideas first…
1. Lighten Up!
De-cluttering your home is the easiest way to give your home a fresh new look. Start by getting rid of anything that is not beautiful or useful. Relocate these items to another area of your home (like your garage or basement) until you have time to donate/dispose of them. This sounds overly simplistic, but you will be suprised how great your room will look, just by editing and TAKING AWAY a few items.
Always wanted to see what your sofa would look like over there- give it a try! Rearranging doesn't cost any money and you may be really pleased with the results- your room will look totally different with all the same pieces. If you don't have the time (or man-power) to re-arrange furniture, consider re-arranging accessories and throw pillows for a fresh new look. Simply strip your room of all it's accessories and re-arrange them or re-locate items from another room.
Spring Look- Robin's Egg Blue accent pillows and florals.
Same room with a new look- khaki and white accent pillows, clear glass candlesticks and neutral accents for a lighter summer look.
NOTHING will update or transform a room as dramatically as paint, and it is relatively inexpensive. Try a new color this year on your walls, or paint an old piece of furniture, or a lamp, or a frame…or your kitchen cabinets! Nothing will update a room like a new paint color to add interest.

So remember…sometimes updating your home doesn't have to cost a fortune- just be smart!
